Svaram

Auroville, nestled in the heart of Southern India, is a testament to the beautiful dream of Mirra Alfassa, lovingly known as The Mother. She envisioned a sanctuary where people from every corner of the globe could come together in harmony, transcending the divides of creed, politics, and nationality. Today, Auroville blossoms as a vibrant community, a living embodiment of over 40 nationalities united by the shared aspiration for human unity and a sustainable way of life.

At the very soul of this unique township lies Svaram, a grassroots sound project, brought to life by the passionate ethnomusicologist Aurelio. His profound love for music and unshakable belief in its transformative power are infused in every aspect of Svaram. This project involves much more than creating musical instruments. It’s an experiment in healing and establishing a strong connection with nature, touching lives and mending hearts through the universal language of sound. Svaram’s mission radiates with empathy and compassion, and is open to anyone who seeks solace and joy in nature’s melodies.

Svaram combines sound with healing. It deploys a unique approach towards creating and using musical instruments for holistic well-being. The project’s innovative collection of musical instruments includes string, wind and percussion instruments, which are tuned to specific frequencies believed to have healing effects on the listeners. The vibrations of these instruments are used for therapeutic sessions to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and balance the body’s energy chakras. The sound baths and therapy sessions transport individuals to a meditative state, helping them experience deep relaxation and inner harmony. Svaram is a community that brings artists, healers, and musicians together to explore the amalgamation of sound with art and spirituality, merging ancient wisdom with contemporary practices.

In Svaram, music is revered as a sacred gift, a tool to elevate human consciousness and explore the higher realms of existence. Each note and harmony crafted here strikes a delicate balance between the spiritual and the sensual, offering an experience that enriches both the soul and the senses. This empathetic approach transforms Svaram into a beacon of hope and healing within Auroville, contributing deeply to the township’s dream of human unity and the joyful celebration of diversity.
